AI Vietnam Ranks Up: Two Platforms Enter Top 10 Most Popular 2025

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an indispensable part of modern life, especially in Vietnam where the speed of popularizing high technology is increasing. A recent survey from Decision Lab, published in the last week of July 2025, has provided interesting information about the AI usage trends of Vietnamese people. The most notable point is that for the first time, two Vietnamese AI platforms have entered the top 10 most used tools.

1. Information on AI market survey in Vietnam

The survey was conducted online with a sample of participants aged 18 and over, evenly distributed in terms of age, gender, income, and region of residence. Decision Lab said the survey sample was designed to ensure high representativeness, accurately reflecting the AI usage habits of Vietnamese people in many different population groups, from urban to rural areas. This is especially important when technology habits in these two regions often have large differences.

The survey results show that ChatGPT, unsurprisingly, continues to hold the top spot with a usage rate of up to 81%. This is the most popular generative AI platform in the world and Vietnam is no exception to that trend. Gemini is second with a rate of 51%, followed by Meta AI with 36%.

What is proud is that in this list, AI Hay (a purely Vietnamese AI platform) has risen to sixth place with 9%, equal to Grok (AI of X, formerly Twitter). At the same time, Kiki, a Vietnamese voice assistant, also appeared in ninth place with 3%. Although this rate is more modest than that of international giants, having two Vietnamese representatives in the top 10 is clear evidence of the competitiveness of domestic products.

According to Decision Lab, since July 2025, the emergence and development of Vietnamese AI platforms shows that the domestic market is gradually forming its own strengths. This is an important step forward in the context of international AI dominating in technology, data and financial resources.

Notably, international platforms such as Perplexity and Claude, which are very popular in the global tech community in Vietnam, only reach about 2% of users. This reflects that Vietnamese users tend to choose platforms that are easy to access, suitable for their language and practical needs, instead of just chasing after famous foreign names.

These figures are not just statistical data but also show a broader picture of the potential for AI development in Vietnam. From here, it can be clearly seen that there is a lot of room for Vietnamese companies to invest in the AI sector, especially if they know how to take advantage of localization and meet the needs of users.

2. Position and function of AI Hay and Kiki

To understand why AI Hay and Kiki were able to squeeze into the top 10, we need to look at the functionality and positioning of these two platforms in the market.

AI Hay was developed with the goal of becoming a platform that combines social networking and generative AI. This is a bold and different direction compared to many competitors. Instead of focusing only on the ability to answer questions or create content, AI Hay builds an ecosystem where users can exchange information, follow trends, and utilize AI for learning and entertainment. The combination of social networking and AI makes AI Hay not only a tool but also a platform for interaction and community connection.

Meanwhile, Kiki goes in a different direction, focusing on voice assistants. Integrated on smart speakers and mobile applications, Kiki aims to support users in their daily lives. From looking up information, controlling smart devices in the home, to chatting and entertaining in Vietnamese, Kiki has created a clearly localized experience. Its language friendliness and ability to understand Vietnamese context make Kiki easily accessible to many groups of people, especially those who are not used to typing or using AI via keyboard.

It is the difference in positioning and functionality that helps AI Hay and Kiki serve different user groups, from students, workers to households. AI Hay is strong in content creation and social media trends, while Kiki develops in the field of voice assistants and IoT. This diversity not only expands the scope of application but also helps the two domestic platforms avoid direct competition with international "giants".

This is the key factor that helps Vietnamese AI gain a foothold in the market. Instead of trying to compete directly with ChatGPT or Gemini, Vietnamese companies have chosen suitable “niches”, optimizing local advantages and domestic user habits.

3. User satisfaction

One of the most important metrics for measuring the success of a technology platform is user satisfaction. According to Decision Lab's survey, ChatGPT continues to lead with a 51% satisfaction score, a number that reflects the technological strength and huge ecosystem that OpenAI has built.

However, AI Hay surprisingly ranked second with 47%, surpassing both Gemini (36%) and Meta AI. This is a proud achievement, proving that Vietnamese AI is completely capable of providing a quality experience, not inferior to international products.

The three main factors that make AI Hay score points in the eyes of users include:

  • Excellent Vietnamese processing ability: AI Hay can understand and respond to Vietnamese questions even when users enter incorrect spelling or use everyday language.
  • Integrate features that suit domestic needs: For example, AI Hay can look up information related to education, cultural trends, domestic locations... quickly and accurately.
  • Speed of new feature updates: Thanks to being a domestic platform, AI Hay can quickly respond to trends in Vietnam, such as predicting exam scores, supporting high school exam lookups, or domestic events.

Kiki, although not in the top group in terms of satisfaction, still maintains a group of regular users in the voice assistant segment. This is a potential market where language and culture play an extremely important role. Compared to international voice assistants such as Siri or Alexa, Kiki has a distinct advantage in understanding the intonation, local language and practical needs of Vietnamese people.

4. How to apply and advantages of localization

AI is now widely applied in many fields, but in Vietnam, surveys show a clear differentiation in how users approach each platform.

ChatGPT is mainly used for translation, research, academic content creation and professional support tasks. With its multilingual capabilities and deep knowledge understanding, ChatGPT becomes a powerful support tool for students, researchers and office workers.

Gemini and DeepSeek are often chosen when users want to learn new skills or search for online courses and materials. These AIs have the advantage of integrating with the Google ecosystem and learning tools.

Meta AI is again used more in everyday chat, entertainment and social networking.

Meanwhile, AI Hay stands out with its ability to serve learning, entertainment, and provide online trends. Users can update news while using AI to summarize information, create memes, or write articles.

According to Decision Lab, for an AI platform to become more popular in Vietnam, three extremely important factors include:

  • Accessibility: Many users prefer platforms that are low cost or free.
  • Ease of Use: Intuitive, easy-to-understand interface and seamless connectivity.
  • Accuracy: AI must provide reliable information and limit errors.

It is at these points that domestic platforms like AI Hay and Kiki have a huge localization advantage. Understanding the language and culture makes them much better at processing Vietnamese than international AIs. A representative of AI Hay once said: the system can understand questions even when users mistype, something that many international AIs are still limited in. In addition, AI Hay also quickly added features to serve the specific needs of Vietnamese people such as predicting university entrance exam results, looking up places to eat, or analyzing Vietnamese social media trends.

5. International trends and impacts on Vietnam

Not only in Vietnam, the trend of AI localization is emerging globally. Countries realize that AI will be much more effective if it is trained and optimized for local languages and cultures.

China has platforms like Ernie Bot (Baidu) and Qwen (Alibaba), which are trained on Chinese data and serve domestic needs well.
India is developing Sarvam AI, which supports multiple native languages to serve its huge population with hundreds of different languages.

In Vietnam, the ViGen project is building a large-scale Vietnamese language dataset, covering content from kindergarten to university, expected to be released this year. If successful, this will be an extremely important stepping stone for Vietnam to develop globally competitive AI platforms.

AI Hay and Kiki’s inclusion in the top 10 has proven that Vietnam has the capacity to create AI products that are not inferior to the world. The emergence of ViGen and similar projects will further promote the wave of indigenous AI development, helping Vietnam not only consume technology but also contribute to the global ecosystem.

6. Conclusion

The fact that two Vietnamese AI platforms, AI Hay and Kiki, are among the top 10 most used AI platforms in Vietnam is an important milestone. It not only reflects the maturity of the domestic technology market but also shows the real potential to compete with international giants if they know how to take advantage of local advantages. In the context of AI changing every field from education, business to entertainment, the emergence of domestic products is a positive signal for Vietnam's digital economy. With advantages in language, culture and a deep understanding of user needs, Vietnamese AI platforms can absolutely go further in the future.
