Step 1: Run the Houdini.pkg file to install as usual.

Step 2: Run the Houdini Terminal 18.5.xxx file in the path /Applications/Houdini/Houdini18.5.xxx/Utilities/

Step 3: Open Terminal, right in that window you run this command

sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.sidefx.sesinetd.plist

Step 4: Open the Houdini_replace file then open the sesi and sbin folders, drag the sesinetd file in to replace

If you can't open it, you can manually copy it one by one.

/Library/Preferences/session

/Applications/Houdini/Houdini18.5.xxx/Frameworks/Houdini.framework/Versions/18.5/Resources/houdini/sbin

Step 5: Open terminal and run this command

sudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.sidefx.sesinetd.plist

Next, type this line into the Terminal window.

hkey

The License Administrator window will appear and you will see the Server Host and Server Code.

Step 6: Reopen the downloaded file, continue running the houdini_patch.app file

Return to the License Administrator screen, review the Server Name and Server Code, enter them and click Generate key.

Note: The first line (starting with Server) is not a key, Copy and remove the first line.

Step 7: Continue to reopen the License Administrator screen > Go to File> Manual Enter Key and enter

Step 8: Reopen the sesi folder at the path: /Library/Preferences/sesi

Copy the License file to the desktop

Then copy the entire first line when running Generate Key (in step 6 it says it's not a key)

Replace the line with the word Server in the License file. Then save it, copy the license file on the desktop back to the sesi folder and you're done.
