1. Auto HDR mode for gamers

If you have an HDR display, Windows 11 will bring automatic HDR to games. This is a DirectX feature that enables HDR capabilities for over 1,000 games, even if they aren’t coded to support HDR.

Even if you’re not a gamer, Windows 11 has HDR-related improvements for you. Microsoft has added HDR support to color-managed apps, like Adobe Photoshop. This allows those apps to access the full color gamut on HDR displays. You’ll need to enable this setting for each app according to its compatibility properties.

2. x64 Emulation for ARM Devices

This is a big feature of Windows 11 that helps ARM mobile devices emulate x64 apps.

Until now, Windows ARM laptops like the HP Elite Folio could only run native ARM apps or emulated x86 (32-bit) apps. That was a problem because some apps no longer offered 32-bit variants. With support for x64 emulation, almost every Windows app will now work on ARM-based phones and tablets.

Microsoft is significantly improving the touch keyboard experience on Windows 11 without changing anything to your hardware.

The virtual keyboard has a new design with a transparency effect, built-in emojis, and animated GIF search. The menu has been overhauled to be easier to understand, with labels for every button and a nested structure. Plus, you can now easily detach the touch keyboard from the bottom of the screen and move it around.

You can also move the text cursor using the touch keyboard by holding down the space bar and moving your finger to the desired location. There is also a quick shortcut for voice typing. Voice typing also has a new, more modern look, with transparency effects and a smaller window. If you want to use it without the touch keyboard, you can activate it with Windows key + H.

The icons for File Explorer folders have changed and are more colorful. For example, the Downloads folder is green. The Desktop folder looks like a miniature desktop.

In addition to File Explorer, system apps also have new icons such as Windows Security, Notepad, Task Manager.

Microsoft is also introducing a new font for Windows 11 called Segoe UI Variable. This new font scales better for high DPI displays, something the old Segoe UI font didn't do.
