Create a Trifold Brochure Template in Photoshop with SaDesign

1. Set up Brochure document

- Step 1: Depending on your specific needs, you can choose the appropriate size for your Brochure. The most popular size is 11.93 x 8.503 inches, so you can apply them.

Set the resolution to 300 to help print photos sharp and clear.

- Step 2: After having the appropriate size, you should set up additional specific items and determine the folding position of the flyer after printing.

Press Ctrl-R to turn on the ruler in photoshop, then right click and select Millimeter.

Click and drag on the ruler to create a guide, using the left “height” ruler for vertical guides and the “length” ruler for horizontal guides.

Place 4 vertical guide bars at points 3, 102, 201 and 300mm, as in our guide below that is three 99mm columns.

- Step 3: Next, you set 2 horizontal guides at 33 and 213 mm to limit the size of the Brochure document.

- Step 4: Create a content area for the size of the Brochure document, important content and text will be located in these lines.

Set vertical lines at 11, 94, 110, 193, 209 and 292 mm.

- Step 5: You complete the instructions by placing two horizontal guides at 11 and 20 mm to get three 83 x 194 mm panels at triple size. This parameter can be changed to suit each Brochure template. If you are creating a Brochure document with a front and back, save two versions of this document.

2. Background design for Brochure flyer

To design a background for a flyer, follow these steps:

- Step 1: With the front document, use the Shape tool to create a white rectangle the same size as the drawing frame.

Add a Pattern Overlay effect, reduce the Opacity of the Pattern Overlay to 10% and set the Size to 25%.

- Step 2: Still on the front document, create a rectangle with the size of 303 x 153mm towards the top of the canvas, then choose any color you want. Note that they cover the entire size of the Brochure flyer.

- Step 3: You crop the Blackboard or Chalkboard image into a rectangle.

- Step 4: Switch to the back document, place the same blackboard texture aiming to fill the entire canvas.

- Step 5: Place a 102 x 216 mm light grey rectangle with the code #e6e7e8 on the right side of the “Back” document. Note that this rectangle must align with the rightmost “fold” guide to visually divide the Brochure size and avoid confusing the content.

- Step 6: Switch to the front document, place then cut out the image from above the blackboard texture. Set the Layer Mode to Overlay. Then go to Filter => Blur => Gaussian Blur.

You group these layers into a group named “Background”, do the same for the background layers of the document behind.

3. Create the front of the Brochure design

You need to focus on each side of the flyer separately to avoid having to switch back and forth. Start with the front of the template like this:

- Step 1: Start with the rightmost table, extract then set the theme.

In this tutorial we will use a stock image of a businesswoman holding a phone. You extract the model with the Select Subject tool.

Next go to Image => Adjustments => Hue/Saturation to create a grayscale for the object.

- Step 2: Create a pink to orange gradient layer, set Style: Linear and Angle: 90, then clip them to the subject.

- Step 3: Use the soft black Brush tool to cover the color transition covering the subject's face and upper body.

- Step 4: Finish by placing the white logo right above the theme. Then group the theme layer, gradient, and logo together, naming the group “Right Panel”.

- Step 5: Go to the middle panel to start creating a list of featured customers, sponsors or icons that you want to highlight.

In this tutorial we used the Color Overlay effect on all the logos as we did with the “Design Planet” logo, then turned them white.

Then group all the logos to keep things organized.

- Step 6: Create a rectangle with the size of 83.1 x 22.1 mm using the Shape tool, then present the layout as you see in the image below.

- Step 7: Next, add a Gradient Layer Effect to the rectangle, set Linear gradient with Angle -105.

- Step 8: Add the “10” icon from the space and astronaut icon pack. Then change the icon to white by copying the Color Overlay layer style from one of the previous logos onto the icon.

Copy a layer style by holding Alt, then clicking and dragging the style from one layer to another.

- Step 9: Add a phone number, along with a call to action.

Set the font Light to about 10 pt for the call to action and the phone number to 26 pt, bold. Resize the text to suit your needs.

Set the text to Center Text and color white.

- Step 10: For the middle table, you add contact information such as address, phone number or website URL, set with Neue Haas Unica font in Bold 11 pt with light gray color code #58595b.

Group these layers together and name them “middle panel”.

- Step 11: Finish by designing the left panel. Type the introduction header in Neue Haas Unica in Black at 32 pt.

Copy, drag, and drop the same orange to pink gradient layer style from the phone number rectangle to the top half of your tagline.

- Step 12: Type the second part of the tagline using Neue Haas Unica Regular font at 30 pt in white. Place it just below the first half of the tagline.

Both lines of text should be flush with the leftmost content guide.

Then group the two lines of text together, name the group “tag line”.

- Step 13: Place any additional text below the “tag line” group using the font Neue Haas Unica in Regular at 11 pt in white.

Be careful to keep the text between the two lines of left panel content so that they do not fall within the fold of the document!

- Step 14: Create a second orange to pink gradient rectangle at the bottom left panel. You can copy the first smaller rectangle from before and then resize it to 83 x 53 mm.

- Step 15: Add the “1” icon from the 15 space and astronaut icons pack, then place them at the top center of the rectangle.

Change to white as for other logos and icons.

- Step 16: Finally, place some centered quotes inside the rectangle. Below will be using Neue Haas Unica italic at 11 pt in white.

Group all the left panel layers together, and we've completed the front of our design.

4. How to create the back of a brochure design

For the back of the Brochure we will use the same fonts, layer styles, and icons for the back as the front. Copy and paste them from one to the other to save time:

- Step 1: Let’s add some information to the right panel. Create a title labeled “Services” right at the top of the gray rectangle using the bold Neue Haas Unica font at 32 pt.

Add a Gradient Layer Effect to the text with the same color from pink to orange, set Linear gradient with Angle -105.

- Step 2: Create a 94 x 31 mm orange and pink gradient rectangle from the edge of the grey square.

- Step 3: Add a brief description of your service using Neue Haas Unica font in Regular at 11 pt in white.

Make text left aligned.

- Step 4: List the services, create a text box with a width of 56mm, use Neue Haas Unica font, Medium at 17 pt and set to dark pink (color code #EF5591) then enter the service name.

- Step 5: In the same text box, you need to enter a brief description of the service. Below use Neue Haas Unica font at Regular level with size 10.5 pt, set to medium gray (color code #414142).

- Step 6: Add service related icons to the left of the text. Then use the 15 space and astronaut icons pack. Copy and paste the same pink to orange gradient from the rectangle into the icon.

- Step 7: Repeat this step for all services, then group the services into groups, keeping the text and icons together.

When finished, group the different services into one group and name it “Services Offered”.

- Step 8: Complete the “Services” table by adding some medium gray lines 1px in size, color code #414142 between different services using the Line Tool.

Group all the classes you just created into one group and name them “Services”.

- Step 9: For the remaining parts of the back of the document, combine the boxes in the middle and on the left to create one large box.

First add a 201 x 52 mm pink and orange gradient rectangle towards the bottom, center of the left canvas.

- Step 10: Use the copy of the previously extracted object and place it on the left side of the canvas. Then align the bottom edge of the image with the bottom edge of the gradient rectangle.

Create a gradient fill layer and set Style: Linear and Angle: 90, then clip it to the subject.

Use a soft black Brush tool to mask out the gradient covering the subject's face, as well as the upper body.

Group these two layers together and name the group “Model”.

- Step 11: Create a second rectangle below the Model group and above the gradient rectangle.

- Step 12: The color of the shape doesn't matter because you can make a background image. In this tutorial we use a wooden Domino image.

- Step 13: Go to Image => Adjustments => Hue/Saturation to make the image grayscale. Create them with a light blue tone by clicking Image > Adjustments > Color Balance, set the color parameters as follows: +15 blue, -15 red.

Finally, click Image => Adjustments => Brightness/Contrast to increase the contrast to +56.

- Step 14: Add company information to the gradient rectangle using the Neue Haas Unica font.

In the section below, use Heavy for the “Our Company” title and Medium for the statistics.

You can add any logo or branding in white to fill in any gaps if any!

- Step 15: Add a title at the top of the document using the Neue Haas Unica font in bold italic, and set the color for this text to a pink to orange hue.

- Step 16: Fill out the bottom half of the document with a brief “about us” section and list the results!

For the subtitles, use the font Neue Haas Unica bold at 11 pt, set to dark pink (color code #EF5591), for the subtext below set the text color to white.

For the list on the right, use the same Neue Haas Unica font bolded at 11 pt and set to white.

- Step 17: Finally, to complete everything, add checkmarks next to the list items. Then group all the checkmarks with the list text.

So we have successfully created a tri-fold brochure template in Photoshop. Hopefully it will be really useful for users in their design process
