Manage Work Effectively With 7 Microsoft Office Optimization Tricks

Have you ever struggled with long Word files, or accidentally deleted important data in them? Don't worry, because Microsoft Office always has "secret weapons" to help your work become easier and more professional. In today's article, SaDesign will share with you some great tips in Microsoft Office. Let's get started!

1. Tricks to convert PDF format to Word

You can convert PDF to Word online by going to http://www.pdftoword.com/, clicking the Browse button under Select PDF to convert, browsing to the PDF file you want to convert to, and typing the email address to receive the results in the Email Word file to section. Then, click the Convert to Word button to start the conversion.

2. Add Developer tag

The Developer tab contains commands related to Macros, giving you quick access to functions that automatically perform operations. To display the Developer tab on the Ribbon, go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon, check the Developer item. Click OK.

 

3. View text page as Thumbnail

Viewing a document page as a Thumbnail helps you quickly navigate to the page you want to view. To display a document page as a Thumbnail, open the View tab, check the Thumbnail option (for Office 2007) or Navigation Panel (for Office 2010). Immediately, a list of Thumbnail pages will appear in the left column of the screen. To quickly navigate to the content of any page, simply select the corresponding page from the list above.

4. Remove text formatting when copying

If you copy the entire text (from the web for example) including content and formatting into Word, you will find that the copying speed is very slow, sometimes even causing Word to freeze. For convenience, you should only copy the content and ignore the formatting by copying in the usual way, then instead of pressing Ctrl + V, you open the Home tab, press the arrow button below the Paste button, select Paste Special, then select Unformatted Text. Done, press OK.

5. Tip – Protect documents with password

To set a password for the document, go to the File menu > Save As. In the Save As dialog box that appears, click Tools > General Options, enter the password used to open the document content in the Password to open box and the password used to edit the document content in the Password to modify box. Then click OK.

6. Tricks to search for deleted messages

By default, Outlook's All Items search option excludes searches for deleted emails in the Deleted Items folder. If you want Outlook to search for emails in the Deleted Items folder, go to Tools > Options > Preferences > Search Options, and check the Include messages from the Deleted Items folder box. Then click OK.

7. Turn off notifications of new mail

Whenever a new email arrives, Outlook will notify you by displaying a small window below the system tray and playing a sound. However, if you don't like this notification, you can turn it off by going to Tools > Options > Preferences > Email Options, clicking the Advanced E-mail Options button, unchecking all the options under When new items arrive in My Inbox. Then, click OK.
