Apple has officially adjusted the prices of all iCloud+ storage plans in Vietnam, from 50 GB to 12 TB, with a noticeable increase across most packages.
1. Apple officially increases iCloud+ prices in Vietnam.
Apple has just updated the pricing for its iCloud+ cloud storage service for users in Vietnam. This is one of the rare occasions where the company has simultaneously increased the prices of all its storage packages in the country, from small-capacity packages for individual users to large-capacity packages for professional needs.
According to information displayed on the App Store and Apple's service page, all iCloud+ plans are now subject to the new pricing structure. New subscribers will pay the new price upon purchase, while existing iCloud+ users will begin paying the new rate from their next billing cycle.
This move quickly attracted attention from the Apple user community because iCloud+ is currently one of the most popular services in the company's ecosystem. Many iPhone, iPad, and MacBook users subscribe to storage plans to back up photos, videos, contacts, documents, and synchronize data across multiple devices.
The price increase means a significant rise in users' monthly costs, especially for those who have been subscribing to the service for a long time.
2. Details of the new pricing for iCloud+ packages
According to the new pricing released by Apple, all storage plans have seen an increase in price.

The iCloud+ 50GB plan increased from 19,000 VND to 25,000 VND per month . This is the highest percentage increase, at over 31%. Although the increase is only about 6,000 VND per month, it's a significant adjustment in percentage terms.
For the 200 GB package , the price has been increased from 59,000 VND to 89,000 VND per month , an increase of 30,000 VND per month.
The 2 TB package , which is a popular choice for families or those working with large amounts of data, also increased from 199,000 VND to 299,000 VND per month , an increase of 100,000 VND.
Apple is adjusting prices not only for standard plans but also for larger storage packages.
The 6TB package increased from VND 699,000 to VND 899,000 per month , while the 12TB package was raised from VND 1,399,000 to VND 1,799,000 per month . This is the largest absolute increase in this price adjustment.
It appears Apple isn't keeping any storage plans the same, but is applying new pricing to the entire iCloud+ service portfolio.
3. Which users will be affected?
Apple's iCloud+ pricing adjustment will impact all users of the company's cloud storage service in Vietnam, regardless of their chosen storage plan. From individual users simply needing more space to store photos to families using the Family Sharing feature or professionals with large amounts of data, everyone will have to pay more starting with the next billing cycle.

For new subscribers, the new price will be applied immediately upon activation of the service plan. This means users will no longer have the opportunity to subscribe at the old price. Meanwhile, existing iCloud+ accounts will continue to pay the current price until the end of their current billing cycle. After renewal, the system will automatically charge the new price if the user does not cancel their subscription or switch to a different storage plan.
For those using automatic payments via credit card, debit card, or e-wallet linked to their Apple account, changing the fee means the monthly deduction will increase. If the payment method has insufficient funds or encounters authentication errors, renewal may fail, resulting in iCloud storage reverting to the free 5GB and affecting data backups.
The group most significantly impacted are users of the 50GB plan. This has traditionally been a popular choice for most iPhone owners in Vietnam due to its low price and sufficient capacity for backing up photos, videos, contacts, and app data. With the fee increasing by over 31%, the annual cost has also risen accordingly, causing many to reconsider continuing their storage plan or switching to an alternative.
For families sharing a 200GB or 2TB plan, the increase in cost, while higher in absolute value, doesn't have a significant impact when divided among many members. Meanwhile, content creators, photographers, videographers, or businesses using 6TB and 12TB plans will have to allocate a substantial additional budget each month for data storage on Apple's platform.
4. Why is iCloud+ an important service for Apple users?
For users within the Apple ecosystem, iCloud+ is not simply an online storage service, but also serves as a platform connecting all devices together. Most of the important features of iPhones, iPads, and Macs are built upon the ability to synchronize data through iCloud.

One of the most frequently used features is automatic backup. Whenever the device is connected to Wi-Fi and charging, the iPhone can automatically back up photos, videos, contacts, messages, app data, system settings, and other important information to Apple's servers. This allows the entire data to be restored with just a few steps after logging into the Apple account if the phone malfunctions, is lost, or the user switches to a new device.
In addition to backups, iCloud+ also helps synchronize data in real time between multiple devices. A photo just taken on an iPhone can appear almost instantly on an iPad or MacBook. Similarly, notes, calendars, reminders, documents in iCloud Drive, or passwords stored in iCloud Keychain are always up-to-date across all devices using the same Apple account.
For users who frequently work with multiple devices, this synchronization capability offers immense convenience. They can start editing a document on their MacBook, continue working on their iPad, and then finish it on their iPhone without having to send files back and forth as before.
Besides storage capacity, iCloud+ also integrates many security and privacy features such as Private Relay, Hide My Email, HomeKit Secure Video for storing video from compatible security cameras, and sharing storage with family members via Family Sharing. These added values are what make many people willing to pay a monthly fee instead of just using the free 5 GB of storage.

5. The 50 GB plan will be most significantly affected.
Among the storage packages, 50 GB has always been the most popular choice for individual users.
This amount of storage is just enough to save photos, videos, back up your device, and some important documents. The previous cost of only 19,000 VND per month made many people willing to subscribe instead of constantly deleting data.
However, with the new price of 25,000 VND/month, the annual cost will increase from approximately 228,000 VND to 300,000 VND.
Although the increase isn't huge when calculated on a monthly basis, it's still a fairly significant adjustment for the average user.
6. Vietnam is not the only market.
According to updated information from Apple, Vietnam is not the only country experiencing this iCloud+ price adjustment. The company has also updated its pricing in several other countries and territories worldwide, although the increase is not exactly the same across markets.
In each country, Apple applies its own pricing policy based on various factors. These include foreign exchange rate fluctuations, local tax policies, service operating costs, legal regulations, and regional business strategies. Therefore, in some places, prices may only increase slightly, while in other markets, the adjustment may be significantly larger.

In fact, Apple has adjusted the prices of its digital services several times in recent years. Not only iCloud+, but services like Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple One have also had their prices updated in various countries to reflect market changes and operating costs. This is a common trend for global digital service providers that operate server infrastructure in multiple regions.
For Vietnamese users, although the new price is higher than before, it is still significantly lower than in many developed markets when converted at the current exchange rate. This shows that Apple continues to maintain a pricing policy that is appropriate for the affordability of each region, even though the general trend is that the cost of using digital services will continue to increase in the future.
7. What should users be aware of after Apple's price increase?
After Apple implements the new pricing structure, users should take the time to review their current iCloud+ plan and renewal date. This helps them proactively calculate the costs incurred in subsequent billing cycles and avoid surprises when the system automatically deducts money according to the new rates.
For those using automatic payments via bank cards or e-wallets, ensuring sufficient funds in the payment method is crucial. If the renewal process fails, Apple may temporarily suspend the iCloud+ plan, preventing users from continuing to back up new data or fully syncing between devices until the payment is completed.
This is also a good time to review your actual storage capacity. Many people may be using more storage than they need due to old photos, videos, or backups that haven't been cleaned up. Deleting unnecessary files, removing backups from devices you no longer use, or moving some data to an external hard drive will help optimize storage and save money.

Conversely, if you frequently receive iCloud storage full warnings, you should consider upgrading to a higher storage plan instead of trying to manage within a very low limit. For families using multiple Apple devices, the Family Sharing feature is also a worthwhile solution as it allows multiple members to share a single storage plan, optimizing costs compared to each person subscribing separately.
In the future, users should proactively monitor their billing cycles, reassess their actual storage needs, and choose a suitable storage plan to optimize costs, while continuing to take advantage of the benefits that iCloud+ offers when using Apple devices.
