Create a Sweatshirt Mockup in Photoshop with SaDesign

1. Instructions for downloading sweatshirt mockup images

For the most convenience in mocking up sweatshirts in Photoshop, you can use free sweatshirt mockup designs and then add your own patterns and logos. 

Mockup image is an example model for an object or subject created based on specific designs in real scale and size. Mockup has a prototype nature, helping you test design ideas on sample products without spending much time and effort.

You can download sweatshirt mockups from famous sources such as Freepik, Adobe Stock, ShutterStock, Envato Elements,... Then change it with the image, logo you want to have a completely new sweatshirt. In today's post, I will proceed to download sweatshirt mockups on Freepik.

Step 1: First, go to Freepik, in the search box enter the keyword "Sweatshirts mockup" to find a sweatshirt template. In the options, select Free, PSD format to make the process of designing a sweatshirt in Photoshop simpler. 

Step 2: We choose the appropriate mockup shirt image and then download it to our computer. Here I use the photo of graphicheroco. 

After downloading the image, proceed to unzip the file. Normally, the image templates on Freepik or other applications will have a JPG image and a PSD file. Right-click on the PSD file and select Open With Photoshop to open the image in Photoshop. Then we will proceed to mockup the sweatshirt in Photoshop.

2. How to mockup a sweatshirt in Photoshop 

After opening the sweatshirt mockup image in Photoshop, we will see that this sweatshirt design is divided into many Layers and many different Groups. Usually, there will be a Layer named Your Work, Edit Here or Design Here with a prominent color. We will proceed to mockup the sweatshirt in Photoshop by replacing our Logo and pattern into this Layer. You can also open other layers or groups to adjust the shirt color, background color, and brightness of the image.

Step 1: At the Your Work layer, Edit Here or Design Here depending on the file you downloaded, right-click and select Edit Contents. A dialog box will pop up, click OK.

The workspace will automatically switch to a new area, now you will proceed to mockup the sweatshirt in Photoshop on this area. 

Step 2: Then in the menu bar, select File => select Place Embedded, select the image you want to insert into the shirt and click Place.

Step 3: Then we use the key combination Ctrl + T to change and adjust the image size to the center.

Click on the white anchor points above the image to change the image size. Ctrl+T key combination

Step 4: In this case, I want the image to cover the entire shirt, so I just adjust the image so that it is as wide as the shirt. If you only want the image of the player lifting the cup, you can use the Quick Selection Tool to create a selection for the object.

Step 5: Now, go to the menu bar, select File => select Save to save the design. 

Wait a few seconds for the save to complete, then return to the main workspace (the original mockup shirt image) and you will get the result of a sweatshirt with a completely new pattern. 

The result is a sweatshirt with a completely new pattern.
