Blend Mode
In the pattern overlay dialog box, you will see the Blend Mode item, which will allow you to change the blending options for the pattern overlay. First, it will be set to Normal by default. When you choose the pattern overlay effect, it will display all the patterns and motifs on the text layer object that you are designing on.

Opacity
Opacity is the opacity of the object, there you will see a slider that helps you adjust the opacity of the Pattern overlay. The lower the Pattern, the higher the transparency and vice versa.

Pattern
In photoshop there are many Patterns for you to choose from, but if you do not want to choose the available Pattern, you can go online to find your own Pattern images and save them there by: Open the image you need to add in photoshop then press Ctrl + A and click Edit > Define Pattern and save that pattern. Then you will see that image displayed in the Pattern list of the dialog box.

Scale
You can change the parameters on the scale slider according to your wishes. Tick the Link with Layer box if you want to lock the Pattern and want to move the layer. On the contrary, if you do not tick that box when moving the layer, the patterns will not move.
